The Top Priorities / Problems in Livingston County

By state law, officials from each of the 62 New York State counties that coordinate block grants are required to conduct a community needs assessment study every four years. In the summer of 2008, the Livingston County Planning Department completed a survey with the Survey/Research Center at SUNY Geneseo. The nearly 600 respondents who participated in the Livingston County Community Needs Assessment study were asked to rank-order problems/needs facing local lower-income residents. The top 8 needs, in order of priority are as follows:
  • Employment
  • Health Care
  • Housing
  • Emergency Assistance
  • Employment Support
  • Transportation
  • Education
  • Independent Living
