The Top Priorities / Problems in Livingston County
By state law, officials from each of the 62 New York State counties that coordinate block grants are required to conduct a community needs assessment study every three years. The assessment examines how residents think about local poverty-both in their own households and in the community. The top 4 needs, in order of priority are as follows:
- Housing Costs, including utilities, are too high
- Lack of good work paying a livable wage
- Transportation poses a barrier to employment
- Food insecurity
The 2022 full Livingston County Community Needs Assessment is available.
Funding Cycle
The program year for Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) begins October 1 and ends September 30. The application process for funding begins with notification to present delegate agencies and an announcement to additional agencies usually in April.
