The Top Priorities / Problems in Livingston County

By state law, officials from each of the 62 New York State counties that coordinate block grants are required to conduct a community needs assessment study every three years. The assessment examines how residents think about local poverty-both in their own households and in the community.  The top 4 needs, in order of priority are as follows:

  • Housing Costs, including utilities, are too high
  • Lack of good work paying a livable wage
  • Transportation poses a barrier to employment
  • Food insecurity
