The Top Priorities / Problems in Livingston County

By state law, officials from each of the 62 New York State counties that coordinate block grants are required to conduct a community needs assessment study every four years. In 2015, the Livingston County Workforce Development Department engaged the Livingston County Planning Department to assist in the completion of the needs assessment.  The assessment examines how residents think about local poverty-both in their own households and in the community.  The top 5 needs, in order of priority are as follows:
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Access to Food
  • Transportation
  • Health Care

Funding Cycle

The program year for Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) begins October 1 and ends September 30. The application process for funding begins with notification to present delegate agencies and an announcement to additional agencies usually in April.
