Vaccines for Youth (Ages 6 months -17) - Primary series doses

Booster Updates from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): 

  • Youth ages 5 years to 11 years are currently recommended to get the original (monovalent) booster (Moderna or Pfizer)
  • Youth ages 12 years and older are recommended to receive one updated (new bivalent) booster (Pfizer only)
  • This includes people who have received all primary series doses and people who have previously received one or more original (monovalent) boosters.
  • This also includes people 12 years of age and older who have weakened immune systems.
  • Use CDC’s COVID-19 booster tool to learn if and when your child or teen can get boosters to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized emergency use of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19  on June, 17, 2022.
