Due to the increasing complexity in the management of county government, the Board of Supervisors established the Office of County Administrator in 1988. The County Administrator's Office is directly responsible to the Board of Supervisors for the overall administration of county government and the coordination of daily operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
The County Administrator's office is responsible for:
Overseeing all County Government functions, advising department heads and county officers along with coordinating the activities of county government to effectively implement the directives and policies established by the Board of Supervisors
Serving as liaison between the Board of Supervisors and/or the various legislative committees, and the individual county departments
Overseeing purchasing functions
Carrying out the duties and responsibilities of budget officer of the county, preparing and, upon adoption by the Board of Supervisors, administrating of both the Annual Operating Budget, the Annual Maintenance Budget, and the Long-Range Capital Program
Participating in collective bargaining negotiations with representatives of employee bargaining units
Preparing administrative and management studies, as may be required by the Board of Supervisors, and the development of reports and recommendations regarding the operations of county government as deemed appropriate by the county administrator, or at the request of the Board of Supervisors
Developing policy and procedural recommendations for consideration by the Board of Supervisors and serving as an adviser to the Board of Supervisors in policy and procedure matters
