GENESEO, N.Y., Jan. 25, 2023 — Livingston County is proud to help support the work of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Livingston through a $542,500 funding allocation included in the County’s 2023 budget. The County’s monetary contribution will help to aid and grow some of CCE Livingston’s core programs, including agriculture, food safety, parenting education, and 4-H youth development.

“We greatly appreciate the ongoing financial support from Livingston County as a vitally important economic contribution to our service outreach mission,” said CCE Livingston Executive Director Matthew Cole. “Among the many events, experiences, and engagements we offer through CCE during the year, one area I’d like to highlight is our growing agriculture in the classroom initiative. With Livingston County’s support, it’s poised and ready for 2023 with integrated programs in more than 75 classrooms within all our schools across the county. Our agriculture in the classroom educators and volunteers engage students in learning that makes connections through the agriculture literacy program and helps students to understand local food production connections.”

Since 1913, CCE Livingston has provided local residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools and education. The agency also offers local residents many programs and services, including agricultural education, community-based nutrition, traffic safety, and veterans initiatives.

“CCE Livingston is a vital resource for our community and we’re proud to support their mission of educating and empowering our residents,” said David LeFeber, Chair of the County’s Board of Supervisors. “Their programs and services are important to the growth and prosperity of our County and this funding allocation reflects our commitment to investing in the future of Livingston County.”
