Livingston County Records Management Supervisor Obtains Prestigious Certification

GENESEO, N.Y., Dec. 1, 2023 – Livingston County Records Management Supervisor Megan Sokolow was recently recognized by the Association for Intelligent Information Management after becoming a Certified Information Professional.

The certification, which focuses on building skills and knowledge related to advancements in Intelligent Information Management, will play a pivotal role in the County’s preparation to meet advancements in technology including artificial intelligence, large language models, generative AI and machine learning.

“Livingston County is a community of leaders who approach their respective jobs with planning and forethought,” said Sokolow.  “By earning this certification, I will be better prepared to utilize cutting-edge technologies and respond to any challenges they may present.  I want to thank the Board of Supervisors for their support as we continue to strive to provide Livingston County employees and residents with the highest levels of service.”

The number of files, documents and data produced annually at the County level can be enormous.  By earning this certification, Sokolow believes she will be able to build better processes and guidelines related to storage, digital preservation and document management.  In doing so, the County will ensure that it can provide the citizens of Livingston County with the best possible access to information.

“I gained a great deal of knowledge and insight into how to better develop process automation, multiple-chain capture strategy and intelligent document management into our current work environment,” she added.  “The goal of all of this is to provide easy access for those interested in obtaining public information, now and in the future.”

The Livingston County Records Management Office provides proper storage, retention and disposition of County records as defined by New York State law using the Local Government Schedule -01.  The New York State Archives creates the Retention and Disposition Schedule for all government entities within the state of New York.
