Boater Safety Course

Those born on or after May 1, 1996 will need to complete an approved course in order to operate a mechanically propelled boat. For those born before that date, no course is required but is still recommended.
All operators of a personal watercraft must take this course to operate legally, regardless of age. Attendees must be at least 10 years of age although the operator of a personal watercraft must be at least 14 years of age.
The 2015 Boater Safety Course will be instructed by Marine Patrol Deputies of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Navigation Unit.
All classes will be held at the Livonia Fire Hall, located at 4213 South Livonia Road in Livonia, NY 14487. The course is provided free of charge by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office but there is a $10 fee for those 18 years of age and older, payable to NYS for the issuance of the safety certificate.
